Grand Canyon

A Perfect Destination Proposal - The Grand Canyon

After almost seven years together - we got engaged! My fiance popped the question inside the Grand Canyon after we flew in on a helicopter. It was a picture perfect proposal with stunning aerial views and champagne to celebrate.
If you're looking for destination proposal ideas, here are the details on how he did it in three easy steps.

Step 1: Booking the Helicopter Ride

He booked the Grand Celebration Tour through Papillion, a helicopter company operating out of Las Vegas. This group tour costs $329/person and includes the helicopter ride, hotel pick-up and drop off, and a champagne picnic. While each seat in the helicopter offers great views, he spent an extra $50 to reserve front-row seats (highly recommended!)

Note: This is a group tour that includes approximately 3 - 4 other people. While you can book your own private helicopter ride to do the same thing through other companies, the price tag of $3000+ definitely doesn't seem worth it.  Despite having several people on board, the Grand Celebration Tour still felt very special and relatively private!

Step 2: Flying into the Grand Canyon

Papillion picked us up at our Las Vegas hotel (The Mirage) at 7:30am in a shuttle and drove us approximately 40 minutes to their terminal in Boulder City.  From there, we checked in and boarded our helicopter with four other people - the entire process was smooth and easy.  Once in the air, we flew over the infamous Hoover Dam and Lake Mead and descended 4000 feet into the Grand Canyon, landing on the Canyon floor.

Step 3: Popping the Question

After we landed, we explored the surrounding area while the helicopter pilot began to set up a picnic with champagne and snacks.  We made our way to a beautiful overlook and he asked some people in our group to take our picture. At that point, he got down on one knee and proposed!  The helicopter pilot came over and gave us some much needed champagne afterwards.  From the spectacular views from the helicopter to the celebratory picnic, it was a super fun and unforgettable experience!
